Al-Yamamah Palace is the official residence of the King of Saudi Arabia. The palace is located in the western suburbs of Riyadh, the capital of the kingdom and is also the seat of the royal court of Saudi Arabia and the seat of parliament with the consultative assembly which acts as a parliamentary chamber.
It should not be confused with the palace of Rawdat Khuraim which is the private residence of the king, located 60 km north of Riyadh in the desert in an oasis where the Saudi monarch often receives foreign heads of state President Barack Obama who paid a diplomatic visit on 28 March 20141.
The palace is divided into two buildings of different sizes: a grand palace for the royal court, official receptions and the meeting of the council of ministers (choura ad diwan) and a smaller palace with a private park, reserved for the sovereign and his family.
